Application note: When selecting the infrared sensor for your job, temperature range is only one factor. Consider also the spot size, the distance from the sensor to the target and the optical ratio of the sensor.

Example: If your measuring area is 4" in diameter, a 4:1 sensor can only be 16" away, but a 10:1 sensor can be up to 40" away. Ambient temperature of the sensor is often affects how close you can mount; there are sensor cooling options.
